Hawks linked to Kings trade in ‘intriguing’ scenario

The Atlanta Hawks remained on the surface without Tree Young in the lineup so far this year, they currently sit at 14-11 on the season, and Young has been sidelined since the second week of the season with an MCL sprain. in his absence, Jaylen Johnson took over a big jump into legitimate All-NBA contention, and the Hawks are right at the top of things in a crowded Eastern Conference playoff picture.

With the Hawks looking to grab a position in the standings, some have speculated that the team could seek a trade, whether for a star player or something more on the fringes.

ClutchPoints NBA insider Brett Siegel speculated recently one trade candidate The Hawks could target to help them in the wing department: Sacramento Kings wing Keon Ellis.

“Another team I’ve heard about is the Atlanta Hawks. It’s a really intriguing situation to me, not only because they’ve been mentioned as a suitor for Anthony Davis … but also because of where the Hawks are. This is a team that’s going to be a buyer. They’re not going to be a seller. And they’re a team that envisions itself at the top of the East.”

The Hawks could definitely use another player who can defend the perimeter and hit open threes (like every team in the NBA). Atlanta has been unexpectedly close to All-Star-level production from Nikhil Alexander-Walker so far this year, but has also seen Dyson Daniels’ offense fall off a cliff, so a player like Ellis who can space the floor and play solid defense would certainly help.

Either way, the Hawks’ season will continue on Friday night when they host the Detroit Pistons. That game is scheduled to begin at 7:00 PM ET from the Motor City.
