Ja Morant’s chasedown block drives Memphis fans wild

I Morant it shouldn’t have been bucket to revive FedExForum. At the beginning of the first quarter against Utah Jazzwith Memphis Grizzlies trailing 13–11, Morant turned the ball over near the rim. What followed summed up why Memphis fans feed off his energy.
Morant immediately flipped the switch, racing up the floor and meeting Keyonte George at the rim for a clean block that detonated the crowd.
The block came during Morant’s return to the lineup after a 10-game absence, and it served as an early reminder of what the Grizzlies have been missing. Morant’s speed, effort and instincts can change momentum in seconds. One mistake turned into a highlight as he refused to give up on the game.
That streak also reflected how Morant approached his comeback. He didn’t get back into the game any easier. He attacked them. Morant contributed in his return, mixing scoring and playmaking while pushing the pace whenever Memphis needed a shot. The efficiency was not always perfect, but the aggression remained constant.
Since this is his first game back after a long layoff, Morant isn’t getting too much time on the court. But he still contributes. At halftime, Morant has seven points, 5 assists and that one monstrous block, all while playing just 12 minutes.
He’s not back to his best yet, but that’s a positive sign for an injury-riddled Grizzlies team. The latest of which is Zach Edei, who is now out for a month due to an ankle injury. Memphis leads 64-61 at halftime. They will need every bit of effort from their poster boy to get this win.
