Ja Morant’s comeback isn’t enough against Keyonta George’s record

Keyont George and I MorantIt is without Zach Edey, hit the ankle and absent until January, but with I Morant that the Grizzlies hosted the Jazz. If the leader opens the scoring, Keionte George (39 points, 6 rebounds, 8 assists) reacts immediately and the first minutes of the game are played at a frantic pace. A tempo that benefits the Jazz as Will Hardy’s men go on a 13-3 run to create the first gap in their favor, thanks in particular to 4/5 from beyond the arc to start the game (23-14). A lead that Utah maintains until the end of this first quarter despite the foul Kevin Love (20 points, 8 rebounds) further Saint Aldama in the last seconds (36-31).

The second act begins with a 3-point shot from Cam Spencer (20 points on 6/6 from distance) that starts a 10-0 run in favor of the home team as the Jazz go nearly four minutes without a single point. Memphis uses the opportunity to regain the advantage (41-36). We had to wait for Keyonta George’s mid-range shot to see the Jazz finally make the basket. Leeder followed up with a stepback from behind the arc seconds later to cap off a stellar first half in which he scored 27 of his team’s 61 points.

However, the Jazz can’t use this surge to regain the lead and are still three lengths behind when they return to the locker room (64-61). Just like in the second quarter, Memphis took advantage of the Jazz’s awkwardness to go on a run and take a nine-point lead. In the process, Ja Morant first came up to pass and then made several baskets, including a “reverse layup” to allow the Grizzlies to keep the lead.

Keionte George’s career high

However, when the leader was taken down by Tuomas Iisalo, Utah took the opportunity to come back behind the good Kevin Love who put his team back in front with a long-distance arrow (100-97). As the final act begins, Memphis trails by six points, but Cam Spencer makes his fifth long shot in as many attempts to bring his team back within two points. However, Keyonte George took Utah’s momentum with a game-winning shot and the two teams traded baskets for many minutes.

A minute from the end of the game, Jaylen Wells concludes 7-0 in favor of the home team, which puts these two teams back in line. For his part, Keyonte George made a long, complicated 2-point shot to set a new career high, but above all, it allowed the Jazz to keep the lead. In the free throw game, the leader did not flinch and allowed the Salt Lake City franchise to win 130 to 126.

WHAT TO REMEMBER

Keynot George’s career record. Keyonte George started his match with a bang. He caught fire in the first half with 27 points on 8/13 shooting. If he is quite discreet in the third act, he is responsible for offering the victory to Jazz. Early in the fourth quarter, he held off Cam Spencer’s hot shot, then made a long 2-point layup in the final seconds to give the Jazz the win. The leader finished the match with 39 points, the best in his new career with 12/20 shooting and 5/9 from distance.

Kevin Love, The X Factor. If Keyonte George was discreet in the third quarter, he could count on the surprising Kevin Love to take over. The 2016 champion had his best game of the season with 20 points, 8 rebounds and four 3-pointers, including three in a row in the third act, that allowed the Jazz to go on a 9-0 run and take a six-point lead into the final twelve minutes.

Ja Morant showed two faces for his comeback. After almost a month’s absence, Ja Morant returned to the floor. If the first half was complicated for him, especially due to his lack of skill, he woke up in the third act to bring his team back into the match. However, he missed a 3-point shot late in the game that could have given his team the win. In 25 minutes of play, the two-time All-Star finished with a double-double with 21 points and 10 assists.
