Keyonte George, new record with mastery

keionte georgeAgainst the Grizzlies and I MorantKeionte George signed the best performance of his young career. From the first half, he put the Jazz on his back and scored 27 of his team’s 61 points on a solid 8/13 shooting, including a mid-range shot that capped a 10-0 run in Memphis’ favor.

While on his way to a career-high 35 points, Keyonte George has been slowed by foul trouble. In the third quarter, he picked up his fourth foul of the game and, logically, Will Hardy called him back to the bench. And when he returns to the game, he commits his fifth foul seven minutes from time. Despite this pressure, the match will end without expulsion, and the victory will be in the end.

“He did a good job of finding his spots and being patient because when you play with five fouls, opponents are going to try to draw fouls on offense.” explains Will Hardy at the press conference. “He showed great maturity by avoiding putting himself in delicate situations where the whistles could go against him. He’s grown so much.”

Controlled “time for money”

Not content with avoiding his 6th foul, Keyonte George was decisive in the closing minutes. First, it shows the dog with this “alley-oop” to Ace Bailey then he is the one who seals the fate of the meeting. He tied his personal best on a floater to give his team a seven-point lead, but Memphis responded thanks to Jaren Jackson Jr. etc Jaylen Wells to tie at 126 all.

With only a minute left, the leader sent a complicated shot for 2 points, while Ja Morant made a good save. The shot that allowed him to score his 37th point of the game, which is synonymous with a new career high.

“My teammates believed in me, the ball was going in and I felt good.” explains Keyonte George after the meeting. “I wanted to get us on the right track and get back to winning ways after two games. As a group, we wanted to turn things around and win this match against a good team.”

To try to make a comeback, Memphis is forced to send him to the free throw line, but he doesn’t flinch. Keyonte George finished the night with 39 points on 12/20 shooting, 5/9 from distance and a perfect 10/10 on free throws to add 6 rebounds and 8 assists to allow the Jazz to win 130-126.

“He gets better game after game,” underlines Lauri Markkanen after the meeting. “It was only a matter of time before this happened and this is just the beginning for him.”
