Why SGA Didn’t Like Steve Nash’s Michael Jordan Compilation
Oklahoma City Thunder star guardian Shai Gilgeous-Alexander had a few words to share about the NBA legend Steve Nash comparing it to Michael Jordan.
Gilgeous-Alexander is in his eighth career season, seventh with the Thunder. He rose through the ranks to become one of the league’s top stars. He won the MVP award last season and then led Oklahoma City to the championship.
The star guard and the Thunder are in the hunt for a repeat as they make a historic start to the 2025-26 season. Gilgeous-Alexander’s success resulted in Nash giving him the comparison of Jordan, something he reacted to during an interview with Taylor Rooks.
“Pretty crazy. I don’t really like the comparisons just because he’s done so many things for basketball. If you ask me, I’m still very far away. I’ve got a lot of work to do,” Gilgeous-Alexander said.

As Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, the Thunder played against the Spurs

It’s clear that Shai Gilgeous-Alexander has a lot of respect for Michael Jordan’s influence on the game of basketball. It was enough for him to downplay the Steve Nash comparison, while realizing that his contribution on the field could only get better.
Meanwhile, the Thunder had a 16-game winning streak NBA Cup semi-final match against the San Antonio Spurs. Despite his efforts, the streak ended after falling 111-109.
Perimeter shooting made the difference in this matchup. The Spurs won this category with 13 3-pointers at 31% success. It wasn’t the same for the Thunder as they knocked down nine threes at a 24% rate.
Five players scored in double figures for Oklahoma City in the loss, including Gilgeous-Alexander. He finished with 29 points, five assists, four rebounds and a steal. He shot 12 of 23 from the field, including 1 of 7 from beyond the arc and 4 of 4 from the free throw line. It’s Jalen Williams with 17 points and seven rebounds, Chet Holmgren with 17 points and seven rebounds, Alex Caruso with 11 points and eight rebounds, and Isaiah Hartenstein with 10 points and eight rebounds.
Oklahoma City fell to 24-2 on the season, but remained atop the Western Conference standings. They are five games ahead of the Denver Nuggets and 5.5 games ahead of the Spurs.
The Thunder will try to bounce back in their next match, as they will be at home. They host the Los Angeles Clippers on December 18th at 8pm ET.
