Christian Benford has been ruled out with a foot injury for the Patriots’ scrimmage

On Sunday afternoon, The Buffalo Bills will hit way to take against the New England Patriots in the battle of two top teams in the AFC East. The Bills have been playing better football lately, including blowing out the Cincinnati Bengals at home a week ago, but they will now face an uphill battle against a Patriots team that hasn’t lost in over two months.

Ahead of Sunday’s showdown in New England, the Bills won some rough news on the injury front regarding their defensive secondary.

#Bills CB Christian Benford, who is having as good a season as he’s had with plenty of splash plays, is out today vs #Patriotsby me and (Mike Garafolo),” NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport reported on X, formerly Twitter. He picked up a foot injury this week.”

As Rapoport noted, Benford is one of the key members of the Bills’ secondary, a unit that has improved as the season has progressed this year.

In his absence, the Bills will have to rely even more on players like Cole Bishop to make things happen in the backfield against the Patriots and their MVP candidate quarterback, Drake Mayo.

Overall, both the Bills and Patriots look like contenders in an AFC playoff race that appears to be wide open now that the Kansas City Chiefs have been effectively eliminated from the hunt, and Sunday’s game could go a long way toward determining the postseason seeding.

The Bills and Patriots will kick off at 1:00 PM ET.
