In Portland, Stephen Curry loses 48 points for nothing…

Stephen Curry

THE Warriors are sick, and the return of their “big three” doesn’t change anything! Facing the Blazers, who have been in bad shape for several weeks, Stephen Curry’s teammates lost 136-131. Still, the All-Star point guard tried everything, with 48 points and 12 three-pointers. But in contrast, Shaedon Sharpe and Jerami Grant each scored 35 points on… 12 3-pointers!

In between, we find Steve Kerr opting for a more classic five with Quinten Post to support Draymond Green in the ruck and Moses Moody paired with Steph Curry and Jimmy Butler on the outside. After his performance against the Wolves, Curry is hot, but still lonely. Sidi Sissoko still has the hot hand, supported by the unsustainable duo of Sharpe-Grant. Kerr is forced to take a timeout, and the Blazers are already leading 20-14. Brandin Podziemski is the one who shakes the Warriors, and Buddy Hield makes sure to close the quarter for a deficit of three small points (34-31).

The rest will be very balanced, and in the end we are witnessing a real match for 3 points in the second half. In this small game, Stephen Curry is clearly the best, and allows the Warriors to take a 10-point lead at the beginning of the fourth quarter (109-99). Tiago Splitter finally decides to raise it, and above all to multiply the holds in pairs. These players have the sticks and wingspan to trouble Curry, and it’s working as they go 12-0 at the Grant Festival. Moses Moody stops the bleeding while Curry goes to rest in preparation for “money time”. Podziemski takes a three-pointer, and when he returns to the game, Curry sees that these Warriors have regained control (121-119).

Curry misses in crunch time

Then the hellish progression begins, and Danny Avdia returns the advantage to the Blazers (127-126) on a basket by mistake. Curry responds with a 3-pointer (129-127), but it’s Grant’s turn to score as well with a bonus free throw (130-129).

Curry, even taken at two, looks for a 3-point knockout and misses. Jimmy Butler offers him a chance to catch up, but Curry misses his layup! Butler is on the rebound and misses two shots in a row. Avdija returns the ball, and the Warriors foul. The Israeli makes his shots (132-129), and the Warriors have 20 seconds to tie the game. Except Curry loses the ball on a double play, and the Blazers rush to victory (136-131). Their first in four matches.

WHAT TO REMEMBER

Stephen Curry alone in the world. Last night, Stephen Curry recorded his 45th game with 40 points or more since his 30th birthday. That’s one more than Michael Jordan and no one has done better! It’s a shame that his performance was marred by two questionable choices in the last minute.

Draymond Green on the edge. Back on the field, Green was on edge! He shouted at the referees as much as at individual teammates. He loses 8 balls and receives his traditional technical foul.

Solid racket. Portland showed up with a full racket tonight, with the return of starting center Donovan Clingan and backup center Robert Williams III, who were out most of the week with injuries and illnesses. Between them they have 14 points, 21 rebounds, 6 assists and 3 blocks. This dog from Clingan will be remembered by Toumani Kamare alley in the “time of money”.
