LeBron James is enjoying the ‘last laugh’ over the Suns

Los Angeles Lakers star LeBron James was the picture of relief after escaping the Phoenix Suns with a two-point victory, 116-114, at the Mortgage Matchup Center on Sunday.

The Lakers led by as many as 20 pointsbut the Suns rallied in the fourth quarter as the game went down to the wire. Phoenix stole the lead, 114-113, after Dillon Brooks hit a 3-pointer with just 12.2 seconds left. However, he then punched James and was whistled for his second technical foul, which put him out of the contest.

Brooks, who received the first technical foul of the first quarter, also had arguing with James in the third frame after the four-time MVP reacted harshly to Brooks who appeared to hit him with the ball.

However, 40-year-old James dismissed his latest clash with 29-year-old Brooks, claiming it was part of the game.

“Just competition. That’s what it’s all about, competition. That’s the best form of competition, it’s the big boys, it’s the NBA,” James, who has an ongoing rivalry with Brooks, said in an interview with Spectrum SportsNet.

“We competed there. We managed to have the last laugh.”

James scored 26 points, including two key free throws, three rebounds, four assists, two steals and two blocks. However, he also had eight turnovers on the season.

He also credited their physicality against the Suns, avenging their loss in their previous meeting earlier this month.

“I think the last two days of practice put us in a position where we’re able to be very physical. Obviously, that fourth quarter allowed them (the Suns) to get back into the game because we put them on the line,” James said.

“But I thought for most of the game our physicality was good.

The Lakers will face the Utah Jazz on Thursday.
