Jon Scheier makes ACC history after early Lipscomb scare
Jon Scheier made incredible ACC history after leading the No. 3 Duke Blue Devils to a 97-73 victory over the Lipscomb Bison on Tuesday night.
Scheier is in the fourth season of his coaching career, all with the Blue Devils. He embraced the reins after the retirement of legendary coach Mike Krzyzewski, realizing the heavy weight of expectation that would come with it.
Clearly, he’s handling it pretty well. Duke has remained a formidable power during his tenure, reaching the Final Four last season while posting 27 or more wins in each of his first three seasons.
This match allowed him to enter history. He earned his 11th win of the 2025-26 season, earning his 100th career victory. At 38, he became the fastest trainer in ACC history to reach that milestone. It took him just 122 games, six fewer than Duke’s Vic Bubas and seven fewer than North Carolina’s Roy Williams.

According to Jon Scheier, Duke played against Lipscomb

For Jon Scheier, it’s a historic achievement he’s earned in his young coaching career, maintaining Duke’s success as an active powerhouse.
What’s interesting about this win is how competitive it was early on. Lipscomb gave Duke a run for its money in the first half and the score was just 48-45 at halftime. It wasn’t until the second half that the Blue Devils finally took control of the momentum and never looked back.
Five players scored in double figures for Duke in the win. Cameron Boozer dominated with 26 points, 13 rebounds, three assists and a steal. He shot 10 of 17 from the field and 6 of 6 from the free throw line. Next was Isaiah Evans with 16 points and three assists, Malik Brown and Darren Harris scored 11 points each, while Patrick Ngongba II recorded 10 points and 11 rebounds.
Duke stands as the only perfect team left in the ACC, with an 11-0 record. They lead California, North Carolina, Virginia and Miami over every other ACC team.
The No. 3 Blue Devils will look forward to their next match, staying at home. They host the #19 Texas Tech Red Raiders on December 20th at 8:00 PM ET.
