Tree Young’s latest injury update suggests a return is imminent

The Atlanta Hawks they are waiting for the return point guard Tree Youngwho has been out since late October with an MCL sprain suffered against the Brooklyn Nets. in his absence, Jaylen Johnson took over as the face of the franchise moving forward, but that still doesn’t mean Young’s presence hasn’t been sorely missed.
Earlier in the day on Wednesday, the Hawks recalled Young from a short practice with the College Park Skyhawks of the G League, and later in the afternoon announced their initial injury report for Thursday’s game against the Charlotte Hornets, with Young listed as an encouraging upgrade.
“The Hawks have upgraded Trae Young (MCL right knee sprain) to questionable for Thursday’s game at Charlotte,” NBA insider Marc Stein reported on X, formerly Twitter.
In Young’s absence, the Hawks have increased their defensive intensity and turnover ability, but the offense has predictably taken a hit, even as Johnson continues to play at an All-NBA level.
Currently, the Hawks are 15-12, in eighth place in the Eastern Conference, but just one game out of third place. It will certainly be interesting to see how head coach Quin Snyder and company decide to reintegrate Young on the wing on both ends of the floor, given Johnson’s star.
Either way, the Hawks and Hornets will tip off Thursday night at 7:00 PM ET from Charlotte. After that, the Hawks will catch a late flight home before hitting the floor the following night against the San Antonio Spurs.
