R Mason Thomas earns a lot of support

Oklahoma football piled up four sacks the last time he faced Alabama. However, none came from leading spy R. Mason Thomas, who was not injured. Now Thomas is back – leading to massive support from Brent Venables in front of their own College Football Playoff a meeting.

The head coach trusted his other rushers to upset Ty Simpson at the November meeting. Thomas he returned to practice at full strengthaccording to George Stoya III of On3/Rivals Wednesday.

“Brent Venables says R Mason Thomas has been very engaged since his injury. He has never missed a meeting and has taken his rehab seriously to come back for this moment,” Stoja posted on social media website X, formerly Twitter.

Venables also released this message via a Sooners insider.

“He cares deeply about his opportunity here. I’m excited for him to get back on the field,” Venables said.

Outside linebacker Kip Lewis emerged as OU’s leading scorer in a 23-21 road win over ‘Bama. Venables masterfully delayed Lewis’ blitzes to stifle Alabama’s air attack.

Thomas, however, has been praised for his motor skills and tenacity off the edge. He previously did the damage against another Iron Bowl team earlier this year in Auburn.

Thomas re-entering the mess room gives OU and Venables a third rush. Taylor Wayne is another option that has hurt Alabama’s offensive line at the November meeting.

The 6-foot-2, 249-pounder leads OU with 6.5 sacks. Thomas looks poised to add to Oklahoma’s sack total on Friday in Norman. Oklahoma enters as a higher seed at No. 8 compared to ‘Bama.
