Guard gets key injury update for Pistons matchup

Anthony Davis, D’Angelo Russell and Brandon Williams all are listed as questionable on the NBA injury report for Thursday’s game against the Detroit Pistons. Russell is recovering from his illness, doc AD is dealing with a left lower leg contusion. Davis is listed as a suspect not particularly surprising after he missed Monday’s 140-133 loss to the Utah Jazz, but Williams’ injury situation — dealing with right Achilles soreness — is uncertain.
Williams’ questionable status suggests he could play against the Pistons. It is worth noting that all three players went through full practice on Wednesday, according to Mike Curtis of The Dallas Morning News.
Williams (26) is averaging 10.8 points, 4.2 assists, 2.5 rebounds and 1.4 steals per appearance in 24 games (nine starts) this season. He made a big impact for the Mavs, who battled injury problems during the 2025-26 season. Now it’s Williams who is dealing with his injury, but there is a chance he could play on Thursday.
Dallas will enter the game with a 10-17 record. Although the Mavericks have seen an overall improved performance in recent weeks after their weak start to the year, the team remains in 12th place in the Western Conference.
Meanwhile, Detroit leads the Eastern Conference with an impressive 21-5 record. The Pistons are 2.5 games ahead of the second-place New York Knicks in the East.
There is no doubt that the competition will be a real challenge for the Mavs. The final injury statuses of Davis, Williams and Russell will go a long way in determining the outcome of the game.
