Jeff Hafley predicts Micah Parsons will break sack record after torn ACL

The Green Bay PackersSuper Bowl Odds suffered a major blow afterwards Micah Parsons suffered a season-ending ACL tear in Week 15. Green Bay fell to 9-4-1 with a tough loss to the Denver Broncos last week. The Packers are now pushing for the playoffs without their most important defensive player.

Team official placed Parsons on injured reserve on Wednesday. But defensive coordinator Jeff Hafley is already excited about it The All-Pro pass rusher’s return.

“Just wait and see how hard he tries to come back, how quickly he’s likely to come back,” Hafley told The Athletic’s Matt Schneidman. “If I was a betting man, I’d bet he’ll come back even better and probably break the (NFL) sack record next year. … That’s the confidence I have in him.”

The Packers lose Micah Parsons to a torn ACL

Hafley’s belief in Parsons speaks volumes. Especially since it’s unclear what the sack record will be next year. Myles Garrett is on the verge of breaking the record this season. Cleveland Browns edge rusher carries up to 21.5 sacks. Garrett is now three games away from surpassing the single-season record of 22.5 shared by Michael Strahan and TJ Watt.

It’s also unclear when Parsons will be able to return to the Packers. He tore his ACL in December and could miss the start of next season. Robert Griffin III believes Parsons should be out entirely in 2026. The former quarterback emphasized that it takes longer than the projected nine-month recovery time frame to feel like yourself again.

It’s a tough situation for Parsons and the Packers. “I have a lot of respect for the guy and I’m sad for the guy… Unfortunately, injuries are a part of this game. And they’re tough. It’s upsetting for the person, it’s upsetting for the team and I certainly feel for Micah,” Hafley added.
