Taurus finds altruism and a smile
Facing the Cavaliers, who have been struggling for several weeks, Bulls signed their biggest win of the season by imposing oneself 127-111worn triple-double of Josh Giddei. A success that gives Chicago momentum, while Billy Donovan’s players have won just two of their last ten matches…
“I think the guys understood the level of sacrifice that was expected and they wanted to play their part.”, appreciated the Bulls coach after the meeting. “We have to become united again and build an identity. Tonight we got closer to the way we played at the beginning of the year.”
The Bulls got off to a strong start, winning their first five games thanks to a well-oiled offense. Since then, teammate Kobe White’s offensive momentum has clearly faded: The Illinois franchise has the seventh-lowest scoring offense in the NBA, averaging 112.3 points per 100 possessions.
Set the table again on Friday
But against Cleveland, the team made the difference. Seven players reached the top ten, and the ball moved smoothly, as evidenced by 35 assists.
“That was probably the most unselfish game we’ve played in a long time”Josh Giddei confirmed. “At the beginning of the season, when we were playing well and winning, I had the impression that several players were stepping up. In these moments, we are at our best.”
Chicago will quickly have a chance to prove that this success was no fluke: The Bulls will welcome Cleveland on Friday, with the ambition to continue. They are currently in 10th place in the East (11 wins-15 losses) and already three games behind the Cavaliers (15 wins-13 losses).
“The Cavs are a very good team”warns Josh Giddei. “They’re aiming for the title and they’re going to respond. It’s up to us to strike first and, in a way, pick up where we left off tonight.”
