Nikola Jokić becomes the number 1 passer among pivots
for many, Nikola Jokic has long been the best passing center in NBA history. This is now borne out by the numbers because, in a win against the Magiche became the most prolific center of all time in this sector, ahead of Kareem Abdul-Jabbar.
The former Lakers player recorded 5,660 assists during his long and storied career. With his 13 assists (plus 23 points and 11 rebounds) against Orlando, the Serbian now has 5,667 career assists at just 30 years old.
“For those who love basketball history, this feat must be talked about”, estimated David Adelman. “Because he surpasses what some might consider the greatest player in history. Kareem is part of this discussion. Look at his MVP trophies and championship trophies. And the Denver player just passed him in this area of assists.”
The pass makes two people happy…
“It’s one of those moments where I can look back and appreciate all the years I played with him. It’s unique.”adds his teammate Jamal Murray. “To surpass Kareem in any rank is pretty cool. It shows his greatness and his unselfishness.”
Nikola Jokic is now the 50th passer in NBA history, and soon he will be 49th along with Larry Bird, another great passer, whose lead will melt like snow in the sun (5,695). 48th with 5,701 assists, Dwyane Wade will soon give up his place.
“I’ve always said that a dog makes two players happy, not just one. My coach Deki always said that”, reminds the Nuggets’ three-time MVP, citing Dejan Milojevic, his former coach disappeared in January 2024. “When you make the right choice, you feel good about yourself.”
