Klay Thompson receives injury report for 76ers matchup


In the middle of Dallas Kyrie Irving’s long-awaited Mavericks regular season debut, Klay Thompson he could also be out before facing the Philly 76ers on Thursday. Thompson, who has a sore left knee, has not been cleared to play, has joined the Mavericks injury reportwhich also includes Irving, Derek Lively II and Dante Exum, as ruled out. Thompson and the Mavericks defeated the Detroit Pistons in a 116-114 overtime thriller on Thursday. Dallas bounced back from a 140-133 overtime loss to the Utah Jazz on Monday, as two overtime games kept the Mavs on their proverbial toes regarding late-game performances.

Mavericks rookie Cooper Flagg led his team to an overtime victory against the Pistons, 21-6, who have the best record in the Eastern Conference. After the game, Najib Marshall presented Flegg with his flowers for the rookie performance, in a unique way, according to Mike Curtis of the Dallas Morning News.

“The Cup is really amazing in basketball,” Marshall said. “He’s a dog on both ends of the floor… Pledge your allegiance to Flagg.”

Flegg’s 23 points led six Mavericks in double figures, including Marshall’s 16 points and Brandon Williams (14 points), who was off the Mavs bench. Flagg also finished with 10 rebounds, four assists and three blocks as the NBA’s No. 1 overall pick tallied the stat in Thursday’s overtime win.

The Mavericks will take on the 76ers, having won six of their last eight games.
