Rui Hachimura was downgraded due to injury reports against the Clippers
LOS ANGELES – The Los Angeles Lakers return home on Saturday, so to speak, for a ‘road’ game at the Intuit Dome against the LA Clippers. The Lakers are coming off a come-from-behind win against the Utah Jazz behind another incredible performance by Luka Dončić. The The Lakers came up short against the Jazzand they will again be against the Clippers with Rui Hachimura the latest addition to the injury report.
Rui Hachimura was officially listed as suspicious on the Lakers injury report due to soreness in his right groin. Hachimura played against the Jazz and finished with 13 points, three rebounds, one assist and one block in 33 minutes. He has only missed one game this season so far, back on November 15th against the Milwaukee Bucks.
A definitive update on Hachimura’s status probably won’t come until right before the game. He has been among the Lakers’ most consistent players this year so far. He started all 25 games in which he played, averaging just over 32 minutes per game.
Hachimura averaged 13.3 points and 3.8 rebounds on 53.5 percent shooting from the field, 45.6 percent from the 3-point line and 75 percent from the free throw line. His shooting percentages are career highs, and after the Lakers’ shootout on Nov. 28, Hachimura cited his efficiency as a byproduct of playing with Doncic, LeBron James and Austin Reaves.
“It’s become more efficient. I’m not getting a lot of shots, I have to be more efficient … these guys are getting a lot of attention so I’m getting a lot of open shots. My percentage is going to go up,” Hachimura said. “Those are the things I’ll always worry about, being efficient, being in the right places at the right time, everything.”
In addition to Hachimura, Austin Reeves, Deandre Ayton and Gabe Vincent were also listed. All three players have already been ruled out of the Clippers game. Reaves missed a week of action with a calf injury, while Ayton and Vincent were late for the Jazz game. Brony James is also not on the team as he has been assigned to the South Bay Lakers.
