Is Joel Embiid playing tonight against the Mavericks with Paul George?

Philadelphia 76ers Head coach Nick Nurse has one of the most challenging jobs in the NBA, as he is forced to deal with constant injuries and roster adjustments. Rarely does the 2019 champion have all of their core players available at the same time, which certainly keeps them ready for any potentially unforeseen downtime. He may have to get creative again, after the latest injury report.

Paul George he’s already been ruled out for Saturday’s home game against the Dallas Mavericks with a left knee injury, which isn’t surprising since he played on Friday A 116-107 win over the New York Knicksbut Joel Embiid could also be inactive for this East-West battle.

The former MVP and two-time MVP runner-up was unavailable for Philly’s triumph at Madison Square Garden due to illness and nursing a right knee injury, and is back on the injury report. The NBA Cup schedule allowed him extra rest, but when it comes to Embiid’s health, people are not making any assumptions.

Joel Embiid’s injury status for the 76ers-Mavs showdown

It’s Embiid listed as suspicious for Saturday’s game. It is clear that he is still feeling under the weather. One can only hope the knee doesn’t care. If the 31-year-old center is indeed sidelined, it will be more than a week since he last played.

The nurse and staff know Embiid will be on the injury report regularly. Their focus is on maximizing the opportunities they have with the two-time goalscoring champion. He has yet to find consistency this season, swinging back and forth between his the old form of superstardom and a limited version of yourself.

Joel Embiid is scoring 20.5 points on 42.1 percent shooting from the field and 22.6 percent from 3-point range, while also recording 6.6 rebounds, 2.8 assists and 1.3 blocks per game. He is logging just 26.2 minutes per contest, more than five fewer than his 10-year career average. The 76ers will likely need to see the seven-time All-Star perform more often before increasing that number.

There is still time for Embiid to be cleared before the Sixers (15-11) face the Mavs (11-17) at 7 PM ET, but he will likely miss his 16th game of the campaign.
