Pacers recall James Wiseman for… three games!
How we meet again! To say that he talks in between is an understatement James Wiseman and the Pacers got off to a bad start, but former Warriors center he will get another chance to prove himself.
Drafted as a “free agent” in the summer of 2024, James Wiseman suffered a ruptured Achilles tendon in the first game of the regular season. He was sent to the Raptors before the February trade deadline and was immediately cut by the Canadian franchise.
Indiana finally brought him back as a free agent this summer, before making him the final player after two games into the regular season. James Wiseman participated in the preseason and also played 20 minutes against Memphis in late October.
Two months later, here they urgently call him back following the injury to center Tony Bradley, victim of a broken right thumb this Thursday against the Knicks. How long his unavailability will last is not yet known, but the Pacers have taken the lead by calling up the former Warriors and Pistons center.
The latter will effectively reclaim the 10-day contract given to winger Gabe McGlothan, resident of the Pacers’ G-League team, the Noblesville Boom. As this “medical wildcard” contract began four days ago, James Weisman will have only six days to convince, during which time Indiana will play three games, twice against Boston and against Milwaukee. Suffice to say, he won’t have much time to prove himself, but he will have the advantage of already knowing the rules of his former coach Rick Carlisle.
