Steve Kerr makes a “tough” admission about Jonathan Cumminga trade rumors

On Saturday night, The Golden State Warriors are done their ugly loser with a narrow home win over the Phoenix Sunslooking for some revenge for their loss in Phoenix two nights earlier. Jonathan Cumminga he did not play in this one, as the head coach Steve Kerr decided to keep the young wing out of his rotation, which has become a theme in recent weeks in Golden State.

With Cumming’s DNP continuing to rise, some fans have wondered if a trade for the former first-round draft pick is on the horizon.

Recently, Steve Kerr spoke further how are those rumours affect things for Kuminga.

“Everybody wants honesty. They don’t want to be pandered to. They want to know what’s what, but you have to deliver those messages with a little bit of empathy. It’s hard to be on that,” Kerr said, on the Tom Tolbert Show, via Hoopshipe. “…It’s tough and I just think it’s important to acknowledge that to the players and try to understand that part of the business.”

Kerr also gave his perspective on whether or not the Warriors could pursue a trade.

“I know Mike (Dunleavy) and his group are always looking at deals and what’s out there and nothing usually heats up until February,” Kerr said.

Overall, the Warriors have been a huge disappointment this year, with their hot opening weeks of the season proving to be gold.

The frequent benching of Kuminga only added to the unrest. Things were already reaching a boiling point over the summer, when a trade seemed inevitable, before the two sides eventually reached an agreement to bring Kuminga back to Golden State.

Now, however, things may have finally reached the point of no return.

The Warriors will next take the floor on Monday against the Orlando Magic.
