Chris Finch is apparently being punished by the NBA for his massive tantrum
The NBA obviously hit the wallet: Chris Finch was convicted fined $35,000 for his comments which they considered inappropriate towards the referees and for not leaving the field soon enough after being sent off. The sanction comes two days after the Wolves’ win against the Thunder at Target Center.
The scene marked the beginning of the night in Minneapolis. Midway through the first quarter, Anthony Edwards Then Julius Randle run into Oklahoma City’s most physical defense and demand a whistle. Chris Finch then came off his hinges, vehemently contested the roughing of Marc Daigneault’s men and committed two technical fouls synonymous with sending off. Micah Norihis first assistant, then takes over on the bench, and his coach repeats it “it was not thrown out in vain”.
At the time, this rush of blood felt like an electric shock. The Wolves locker room explained that they fed off their coach’s energy, and the atmosphere at the Target Center grew. On the back end, Minnesota pushed its offense to the rim and finished the game with 47 free throw attempts, compared to just 30 for OKC.
And the Wolves ended up taking down the best team in the league at the cost of a suffocating final minute. Enough to spark the idea, in Minnesota, that Chris Finch’s anger was also a message…
The fact remains that the road line has been crossed for the Big League. Between the language used and the difficulty of firing your coach, the NBA reminds us that protest should not become a means of pressure. Chris Finch has already “paid” by missing more than three quarters of the match… and now he will have to settle the bill at the office.
