Kawhi Leonard tried to joke about throwing a shake in the locker room and it didn’t go over well

On Saturday night, The Los Angeles Clippers are done their ugly miss with a comfortable home win over the poor Los Angeles Lakers. Kawhi Leonard was dominant in this one, scoring 32 points with 12 rebounds in the win.
After the game, Leonard tried to joke about something that apparently didn’t happen at halftime when reporters noticed his shake spilled near his locker.
“I was mad at halftime so I threw my shake. Everywhere. So that’s what happened,” Leonard said, according to Sports Illustrated’s Joey Lynn on X, formerly Twitter.
Then Leonard was asked at which he was angry.
“Man, that’s a lot. Man. Talk about the game. S***,” he replied.
He was then forced to talk about Shakegate.
“I’m done. I’m done for the night. I didn’t throw the shake, I just said it,” he said.
Kawhi Leonard apparently fell and spilled in front of his locker, causing a visible mess. When asked, he told us:
“I was mad at halftime so I threw my shake all over the place. That’s what happened.”

Overall, Leonard’s attempts at humor throughout his career have tended to backfire, and fans have found ways to mock his laugh as well as his sense of humor over the years.
Still, Leonard’s play on the court this year has been anything but a joke, and the former Finals MVP routinely puts up huge stat lines, despite Los Angeles wandering the standings throughout.
Some have speculated that Leonard or his teammate, James Harden, could be potential trade candidates for teams looking to add another piece ahead of their postseason run, especially since the Clippers don’t seem to be going anywhere this year. Los Angeles would also be incentivized to pick up some assets given that they don’t have a first-round pick of their own this year.
Either way, the Clippers will next take the floor on Tuesday night at home against the Phoenix Suns. That game is scheduled to begin at 10:30 PM ET.
