What Jackson Dart said about all the losses after the ugly loss

The New York Giants‘ The nightmare season continued Sunday with a 16-13 loss to the Minnesota Vikings at MetLife Stadium, marking the franchise’s ninth straight loss.

In a game defined by offensive dysfunction, injuries and missed opportunities, the rookie quarterback Jackson Dart he endured his toughest outing as a professional, both statistically and emotionally.

After the game, Dart was asked how he handled the constant losses and how he keeps it from becoming normalized. For the KB he had never experienced an extended defeat before coming to the NFL, the adjustment was terrible.

“It’s just a new experience,” Dart said. “I’ve never been through that before and it doesn’t make it any easier than what it is, and you just try to do your best to stay positive as much as you can. And now there’s just a quick turnaround every week, so I feel like you’re waiting too long on a loss. It goes into your next game, we prepare. So that’s just the mentality and the process that I had.”

Dart’s performance reflected the chaos surrounding him. He finished just 7-of-13 for 33 yards with one interception while absorbing five sacks behind a decimated offensive line.

The Giants were without John Runyan, lost Andrew Thomas in the middle of the game and later saw John Michael Schmitz injured, leaving Dart under constant pressure against a masked Vikings defense.

When asked what he took away from the performance itself, Dart replied, “Just don’t let it happen again.”

Interim head coach Mike Kafka acknowledged the challenges facing Dart while also emphasizing growth. Kafka explained that it was the rookie is still learning how to accelerate his processing against aggressive defensive looks.

“As he learns and sees more of that, being able to get the ball out just one touch quicker, use some of those shots, keep his mind clear on that … that’s part of the growth process with that … It’s not just one guy, we’ve got to do better,” Kafka said, via Ralph Vacciano of FOX Sports.

The Giants had moments, including a momentum swing strip-sack touchdown by Brian Burnsbut mistakes, including an overturned pick-six and a botched final drive, proved costly.

With two games remaining against the Las Vegas Raiders and Dallas Cowboys, Dart remains one of the few reasons for optimism. However, the organization’s priority now is to ensure its rookie quarterback continues to develop — not letting this season’s dysfunction define his future.
