What Jeff Teague wants the Rockets to tell James Harden about the trade

The Houston Rockets have been solid so far in the 2025-26 NBA season, currently sitting at 17-9 despite loss to the Sacramento Kings on Sunday night. The Rockets’ addition of Kevin Durant the offseason has paid dividends so far, with the team looking like a real threat to challenge the Oklahoma City Thunder in the Western Conference.
Before the season, there was a lot of talk about the Rockets point guard situation given Fred VanVleet’s ACL injury. So far, Ime Udoka has shown more confidence in second-year running back Reid Sheppard to handle the ball, which has eased those concerns for now.
However, more recently, the former NBA All-Star Jeff Teague took to his podcast Club 520 yes give some advice for Houston on how to get better in that department.
“They need to trade for.” James Harden… Tell James you want him to play like he did in Brooklyn. Be the point guard … He and (Kevin Durant) are together … They had a real shot,” Teague said.
A reunion with Harden would certainly be a sight to behold. Trade rumors have been swirling around Harden for the past few weeks given the Los Angeles Clippers’ poor start to the season.
Harden’s battle with Durant in the Brooklyn Nets that Teague mentioned didn’t exactly go as planned, though it’s worth considering how far that team would have gone in the 2021 postseason if injuries hadn’t played a major role.
At this point, it’s unclear exactly what the Rockets would have to give up to get a player like Harden in a trade, but it would certainly spice things up in the Western Conference.
Coincidentally, the Rockets will next face Harden’s Clippers on Tuesday night from the Intuit Dome in Los Angeles. Tipoff is set for 10:30 PM ET.
