Doug Christie wants Sacramento to be more like the Pistons

This season was not favorable Sacramento Kings. At 7-23 this season, there haven’t been many bright spots for the team over the past few months. Against the Detroit Pistons, the contrast between a rising Detroit squad and a struggling Sacramento team couldn’t be more obvious.
Despite the loss to the Pistons, Kings head coach Doug Christie wants his team to take one game away. Christie says Detroit’s hard-nosed style of play, especially on the defensive end, is what his Sacramento team wants mimic this season.
“Doug Christie said the way the Pistons are playing is exactly what he wants from his team going forward,” James Hamm reported for X. “A tough, physical, defensive-minded group that plays 100% every night.”
At one point, the Kings and Pistons were in the same boat. Both teams were in the dumps and fought against practically everyone. Both were bad teams. The main difference, however, is that the Pistons made moves that were consistent with their long-term vision of building a team with an identity. Now they have become one of the best teams in the NBA.
On the other hand, the Kings had conditions for a prospect a few years ago. However, Sacramento was unable to keep the core of that team together. Instead of returning the call, the Kings decided to spin their wheels and tried to stay competitive, but to no avail. Now they are reaping the results of their decisions.
It doesn’t help that the Kings are dealing with multiple injuries to their roster. Despite their struggles this season, Sacramento doesn’t want to move any big things at the deadline.
