Jalen Brunson will play against the Cavs on Christmas Day

On Tuesday evening, The New York Knicks are down down to Earth with a road loss to the Minnesota Timberwolves, dropping their record to 20-9 in the 2025-26 NBA season. The Knicks did a solid job in this game despite playing without star point guard Jalen Brunsonwho dropped out with an injury to his right ankle.

Some fans wondered if the injury could keep Branson out of the Knicks’ upcoming Christmas game against the Cleveland Cavaliers. However, on Wednesday afternoon the team received a a positive update in that department.

“Sources say Jaylen Brunson will play on Christmas Day in Game 1 … against the Cleveland Cavaliers,” ESPN NBA insider Shams Charania reported in a video posted on his account on X, formerly Twitter.

Brunson has been on fire lately, breaking the 40-point plateau on multiple occasions in the last few games and leading the Knicks closer to the top of the Eastern Conference standings, where they currently trail only the upstart Detroit Pistons for the conference’s top seed.

Injuries have been a big problem for the Knicks so far this year, with OG Anunoby missing some time earlier in the season and Karl-Anthony Towns also taking a hit since the start of the season.

However, they will have a chance to get back on track on Christmas Day against a Cavaliers team that has been a huge disappointment so far this season.

Either way, the Knicks and Cavs are scheduled to tip off Thursday at 12:00 PM ET.
