Kenyon Martin sees a familiar pattern in the feud between Draymond Green and Steve Kerr

As the NBA world continues to react to the in-game feud Golden State Warriors head coach Steve Kerr and Draymond Green, former player, Kenyon Martinhe weighed in on the current topic by relating it to his own experience. Kerr admits the Warriors are a fading dynastywhich can lead to public conflicts after many years of working together. Most fans can agree with that idea.

For Martin, watching the anger between Kerr and Green reach a boiling point despite their success over the years makes the public an argument between the two so surprising, he said, after Gil’s Arena.

“Coming from someone who had head coaching turmoil in the NBA. Someone I didn’t like. We didn’t win anything together,” Martin said. “I don’t like it for certain reasons. When you’ve had success with someone, we understand, the game is emotional. I understand that. But how can someone you’ve had so much success with bring you to that level?”

Martin wonders if things got personal between Kerr and Green, and if either of them may have crossed a line at some point in their back-and-forth.

“My understanding is the relationship between all the players and the coaches, and they love each other for winning and having these things over the years,” Martin added. “You’ve built a great relationship with this man. Like, how can he get you to the point where you’re going to leave your boys?”

Kenyon added that as a former NBA player, he does his best to understand Green’s point of view.

“I try to put myself in this situation as much as possible because we played a similar game with emotions and certain things,” Martin said. “Yeah, me and Draymond played the game similarly with emotion and pride. But to leave our guys in one place, it just gets to the point where it’s exhausting. For Warriors fans, the coaching staff and Steph.”

Kenyon Martin played with a similar passion to Draymond and didn’t get along with his own coach George Karl in Denver, as Kenyon mentions.

Steve Kerr rejects an honest argument with Draymond Green

Head coach of the Warriors Steve Kerr reflected on his confrontation with Draymond Green after practice on Wednesday. I have a day to cool off, Kerr perspective offered about him and Green’s relationship during his media availability, ESPN’s Nick Friedel said.

“Kerr opens post-practice press conference saying Monday night wasn’t my best hour. Kerr said he apologized to Draymond for his actions. Draymond apologized to him. They both apologized to the team,” Nick Friedel reported on X, formerly Twitter.

“We’re a lot more alike than a lot of people realize,” he added, according to ESPN’s Tim Bontemps.

The Warriors will host the Mavericks on Christmas Day.
