Charles Barkley gets a shot on Draymond Green, Golden State

After an incident between Golden State Warriors star Draymond Green and head coach Steve Kerr, who showed a heated exchange on the bench that led to the former heading to the locker room, the team was at the forefront of its disappointing start. With The Warriors’ dynasty is fading for much of the basketball world, Charles Barclay would join the conversation about the team’s performance so far this season.

On ESPN’s NBA Christmas broadcast, Barkley’s headliner spoke with Green about a variety of Golden State topics, including a colorful conversation with Kerr. However, at the end of the interview, the crew and Green said their goodbyes with Barkley-like Christmas cheer played into the team’s current lack of success.

“Merry Christmas guys, we appreciate you all. It’s great to see you all, man, we’ve missed you … to see you all on the tube, it’s great to see you all, guys,” Green said.

“We’ll have you back here when the playoffs start,” Barkley replied.

The Warriors are currently 15-15 on the season, which is no doubt disappointing compared to the expectations of a team led by Stephen Curry, Jimmy Butler, Green and others. However, that exchange with Kerr attracted a lot of attention, and explained why he went from the bench to the locker room.

“I didn’t want one thing to become two. So I’m removing myself, and I thought that was the best thing to do instead of saying things that you can’t come back from tomorrow,” Green said, via Brett Siegel of ClutchPoints. “That was a huge growth moment for me.”

Looking at the team, Golden State has a chance to turn the corner and prove Barkley and many doubters wrong by making some noise in the postseason when the time comes. That opportunity begins on Christmas Day when the Warriors play the Dallas Mavericks.
