All signs point to yes, given what could be a landmark game in Kelce’s career. After the Chiefs’ 16-13 loss to the Los Angeles Chargers, the Chiefs are out of the playoffs for the first time in a decade. After the game on December 14, Kelce refused to speak to the media, which upset many fans. Players are required to be available to the media in the locker room or on the podium once during the day after each game. The NFL has fined players in the past for skipping out on talking to the media, but Kelce was not fined.

According to The Athletic’s Jesse Newell, Kelce answered to the media, “It’s not time. I’ll catch you during the week.”

This is the second week Kelce has denied him access to the media. He also failed to speak to the media after the Chiefs’ 20-10 loss to the Texans.

Although he did not speak to the media, he spoke on his podcast, New Heights, which he co-hosts with his brother, Jason Kelce, about how he feels since consecutive losses.

“You put in all this … work and you hope it pays off,” Kelce said on an episode of New Heights after the Houston loss. “And right now, it’s just for whatever… reason, man, it’s the little things. I feel like I’ve always had answers in previous years.”

“This year, I just can’t find them. I’m constantly thinking if I show up to work and put in the work and solve the problems through my practice habits and through improving my game plan and my fundamentals…

“It just doesn’t add up like it used to,” he concluded.

With how important this game could be for the Kelce and it being held at Arrowhead Stadium, it could probably make an appearance. In addition to the retirement rumors swirling now that the Chiefs are out of the playoffs, Kelce’s two-year, $34.25 million contract extension ends this season, where the tight end will have to make a decision early next year.

The Chiefs play the Broncos at 8:15pm on NBC and Prime Video.
