Kyle Shanahan clinging to the ‘chance’ will be played by George Kittle

San Francisco The 49ers will face the Chicago Bears in Week 17, and it’s still uncertain whether they’ll have one of their pass catchers on the field. George Kittle he has an ankle injury and has yet to step on the field this week. There’s another day for that, but the head coach Kyle Shanahan there is some hope that he will play, according to NFL Network’s Tom Pelliser.

“Kyle Shanahan said Kittle has a chance to play this week. It wouldn’t be the first time Kittle has played without practice if he goes that way. We’ll see if he gets the job today. His status remains questionable at this point,” Pelissero said.

Kittle has dealt with injury before in the season and had to miss some time, and he definitely doesn’t want to miss the last two games of the season. With the 49ers looking to secure a playoff spot, these games down the stretch are important, and it would be huge to beat a team like the Bears, who have played well this season.

Due to the lack of time this season, Kittle’s stats don’t look like the previous two seasons, but he was still effective on the field.

If Kittle is unable to play in Week 17, it shouldn’t hurt the 49ers that much, as they’ve dealt with so many injuries on offense this season and still found ways to win. They went weeks without Brock Purdy and Mack Jones stepped up and ran the business.

If Kittle plays, it will boost the 49ers’ offense and give them a better chance to win. For now, it looks like there could be a game time decision on whether or not he will suit up.
