What could Miami add to the offense to get back on track?
MIAMI – With Miami Heat vs Atlanta Hawks on Friday night, the team looks to get back on track after losing eight of its last nine games. After that The Toronto Raptors have lost their heat on Tuesday, one aspect of the team that should see a slight change is the offense.
As Miami swept the league with a 14-7 start, the headline was a new offensive philosophy that emphasized a free and fast style. What he did cut back on was the pick-and-roll, but as the NBA adapts to its style, some of those screens could be seen ‘spray’ in, as teased by star Norman Powell.
“I mean, we’ve got to do something to loosen up the defense,” Powell said after scoring 17 points against Toronto. “Especially when they’re denying me and not rotating and having guys pretty much face-guard me the whole game, you know, we’ve got to do different things to loosen up the defense and be able to get the ball to me and get in a position to attack and make plays. I thought when I tried to get the ball, I was able to get down here, I was able to find guys, and make the right balance.”
“But I think we’re going to be able to work on that more and more, you know, we’ve just started sputtering in a few games, so we’re more and more able to work on that and get chemistry with different guys that are handoff pick-and-roll and dribble and things like that,” Powell continued. “If we find out where the reads are, it will be better, we just have to keep cleaning up and figure out a way to get our offense back.”
Norman Powell explains how he sees more of the Heat adaptation. He says, “We have to do something to loosen the defenses.”

The warmth Bam Adebayo about the potential change of offense

As it is The Heat have seen recent struggles after starting the season as one of the league’s best teams and No. 1 in pace, individual results have also waned. One star on the decline is team captain Bam Adebayo, who averaged 11.2 points per game over the last four contests and shot below 40 percent from the field. who also said spraying more screens might help.
“I think it just made a little bit of a difference in our game. I wouldn’t say we’ll see it again, but a couple sprinkled in here and there just to keep the defense off balance,” said Adebayo, after scoring nine points on Tuesday, likely to be sidelined for Friday’s game with back pain.
Bam Adebayo would say the team could “sprinkle” in a few screens here and there, but he seems to believe the Heat shouldn’t overload them. #HeatNation pic.twitter.com/gDUvKJe6dC

Either way, it remains to be seen how the offense changes over the course of the season, but Miami looks to get back into the win column at 15-15 with a clash with Atlanta on Friday.
