With the return of Trae Young, Quin Snyder must find a new formula

Trae YoungTHE Hawks digested a long absence Trae Young. When the playmaker returned, a little less than two weeks ago, the team had a record of 15 wins and 12 losses.

Since then, the troupe Quinn Snyder had five consecutive defeats, and the coach admits that he is looking for solutions.

“With Trae back, right now we’re looking for combinations that work” the coach replied on “DNP” by Luke Kennard. “I thought Keaton (Wallace) gave us the ability to defend on the ball against a team that attacks the rim. When we play bad and lose, we look for solutions to change that.”

The coach is looking for improvements, while the Hawks have allowed an average of 133 points in their last five games, including 152 points (without overtime) against the Bulls. In Trae Young’s defense, when he’s not on the court, Atlanta has been sinking since his return, with a “net rating” (the difference between points scored and conceded over 100 possessions) of -17.5 when he’s on the bench, and -0.5 when he’s on the court.

“There’s no problem. You have to focus on the details and how you execute things. Like throw-ins. It’s been two games in a row that we lost the ball on a basic throw-in and they score right away.” so torments Quin Snyder. “That’s what I’m talking about when I talk about cohesion.”

Because that leads to a mountain of turnovers: 21 against the Heat, for 22 points conceded in the process…

“We put ourselves in a difficult situation when we lose the ball 21 times” concludes Quinn Snyder on the subject. “We have to be more connected, more decisive when we execute things so that we don’t put ourselves in danger. Especially when you do it in the half of the court, these misses have an exponential impact…”
