Luka Dončić can only laugh at the obvious journalistic question
The The Los Angeles Lakers beat the Sacramento Kings 125-101 on Sunday. and All-Stars Luka Dončić and LeBron James were key components of the win with guard Austin Reaves coming off a calf strain he suffered during the team’s Christmas game against the Houston Rockets.
When everything was said Dončić was honest when talking about how important this part is to his on-court relationship with James.
“Yes. It’s important. What more do you want me to say?” Donić asked with a chuckle.
Doncic scored 34 points, five rebounds and seven assists in the winning match, while James scored 24 points, three rebounds and five assists. After the competition, Doncic admitted that the chemistry in the team will continue to grow like his and James’s the bond is stronger.
“I think it definitely starts with us,” Doncic told ESPN’s Dave McMenamin. “And when AR comes back, it’ll be all three of us. But now, it starts with us. We have to show what we can do and if we’re going to do it, we’re both going to do it. The group will follow.”
James must have mentioned it others would also have to make a significant contribution because the team wants to assert itself as one of the best groups in the Western Conference.
“I don’t want to create a narrative of (just) me and Luke,” James said. “Five guys on the floor and seven guys coming off the bench. We have to be all of us. (But) it’s important that we set the tone.”
The Lakers are 20-10 on the season. They will host the 24-8 Detroit Pistons on Tuesday.
