Billy Donovan’s admission of “multiple possessions” adds to the concern of soft tissue injuries

Lately, there have been concerns was raised about how more possession leads to more injuries in the NBA. In addition Steve Kerr is sounding the alarm, Chicago Bulls head coach Billy Donovan joins the fight.
On Monday, Donovan expressed his thoughts before the Bulls’ showdown against the Minnesota Timberwolves when asked by NBA.com’s Sam Smith.
“I think that’s a factor,” Donovan said. “One is that the more possessions, the more opportunities for collisions, and when you consider contact injuries and certainly the number of minutes and the pace and speed of the game, they probably led to some soft tissue issues. So I think that’s a fair statement.”

Basically, the more times a player gets the ball, the more work he has to put in. This means more running, jumping, cutting and other movements, which can put more strain on the body. In particular, this applies to the hamstrings, quads and other leg muscles. as an example, LeBron James missed the first four weeks of the season due to sciatica, lower quadrant injury.
Bulls have bounced back from a seven-game losing streak to win five of their last six games. They enter the game against the Timberwolves at 15-16, but with Zach Collins is out with a toe injury.
All the Bulls who get the ball are hurt more.
As the calendar winds down, the Bulls have had it tough when it comes to injuries. At one point they had 11 players out with injurieswhich contributed to a lack of depth and a string of losses.
Among those players were Josh Giddy, Kobe White, Nikola Vucevic and Ayo Dosunmu. Each of which the system spins, especially Giddei.
Giddy is a master facilitator, currently second in the NBA with seven triple-doubles, behind Nikola Jokic’s 16. Giddy plays on Monday despite recently battling a sprained right ankle.
