David Adelman reacts to Nikola Jokic’s knee injury

The The Denver Nuggets suffered a devastating blow On Monday night when the three-time MVP Nikola Jokic collapsed on the court with a left knee injury during a loss to the Miami Heat. Seeing the injury happen to the face of the franchise left many Nuggets fans and members of the organization reeling.

During his postgame press conference, the head coach David Adelman gave a quick update about Jokić’s status.

“I just know that Jokic has a left knee injury and he has to go through the process of what it is,” Adelman said. “He knew right away something was wrong.”

The Nuggets coach also expressed sympathy for his star, knowing how much of an impact Jokic has on the team.

“This is part of the NBA. Anyone who gets hurt, it hurts. Especially someone as special as him,” Adelman said.

“Tomorrow we’ll find out more and move on as a team. I’m more worried about him as a person and the disappointment of going through something like that. It’s unfortunate and we hope for the best. We have to stay at it to support our teammates who are out and honor them when they play. Bullshit, but we hope for the best.”

The timing couldn’t be worse for the Nuggets, who have already had significant injuries. Christian Brown and Aaron Gordon have been sidelined for weeks Cameron Johnson is currently facing an extended absence of his own. Now the team faces the possibility of losing its cornerstone player.

According to league sources, Jokic will undergo further testing on Tuesday to determine the severity of his injury.
