Anthony Davis trade around Pistons, Raptors get hit

As rumors have surrounded Dallas Mavericks star Anthony Davis as for certain teams that have been speculated to be in pursuit of the big man, the latest reports suggest that several teams are likely out of the picture. While there are rumors around Davis will undoubtedly continue throughout the season, potentially until the trade deadline, status Detroit Pistons and the Toronto Raptors more context is given.

ClutchPoints’ NBA insider, Brett Siegel, would speak with fellow outlet reporter Tomer Azarly on “Clutch Scoops” as they talked about Davis and how certain teams view him. Siegel would say Detroit is “not a team that’s all in” on Davis, and as for Toronto, while there is interest, the franchise is going more for “a profitable path.”

“There’s still nothing coming up on the Pistons front even though they’ve been mentioned,” Siegel said. “They’re not a team that’s all that interested in Anthony Davis at this point. They haven’t had direct talks with the Mavericks yet. And the other team that has registered interest in Davis, the Toronto Raptors, appears to be moving down another more cost-effective path instead of pursuing Davis.”

Anthony Davis is also linked to the Hawks, Warriors

One team that it appears the Atlanta Hawks are in the hunt for Davisthe franchise Siegel mentioned is a “top-level major suitor” for the 32-year-old star. Siegel would also list a popular destination in the Golden State Warriors, though he noted that the story surrounding them is “a little overblown.”

“So that really leaves the Atlanta Hawks as the main suitor looking to go AD,” Siegel said. “There’s really no other team that has reached out to the Mavericks at this point. Obviously, there are rumors that the Golden State Warriors are going to be in the mix for Anthony Davis. We’ve heard over the last couple of years that they’ve been very interested in a player like AD and what type of player he is, but those rumors about him have been going on for the next five weeks. It doesn’t look like anything’s really brewing there.”

It remains to be seen where Davis will get a deal and if it will be before the Feb. 5 trade deadline.
