Michael Irvin’s message to Reuben Bain Jr. after stunning Ohio State in the CFP

Wednesday night, Miami football program shocked college football world with a win over the Ohio State Buckeyes in the Cotton Bowl, punching their ticket to the Fiesta Bowl in the process, where they will play for a spot in the national championship game. Not only did the Hurricanes beat the Buckeyes, but they did so in relatively comfortable fashion, leading by double digits most of the time.

One of the big reasons Miami was able to pull off the upset was the play of their defensive line, led by Reuben Bain Jr., which put relentless pressure on Ohio State quarterback Julian Sain.

After the game, the legendary Hurricanes wide receiver Michael Irwinwho was at the game on the sidelines, had special message on the field for Bain Jr.

“Life will never be the same. Life will never be the same from this moment on, I tell you. Hell of a job. Hell of a job, enjoy it,” Irvin said, via a video he posted on his X account, formerly Twitter.

Indeed, the college football world received a major shock when the Hurricanes upset the Buckeyes. During this season, Ohio State was considered by many to be the clear favorite to win the national championship and defend the championship victory from a season ago.

Instead, the Buckeyes started to show some cracks with a Big Ten championship loss to Indiana two weeks ago, and saw their season come to a shocking end against Miami.

Now, the Hurricanes will await the winner of the Ole Miss vs. Georgia Sugar Bowl, which will take place Thursday night in New Orleans. That game is set to kick off at 8:00 PM ET, and Mario Cristobal and company will certainly be keeping an eye on things.
