The AD Rebels aren’t sure the LSU-bound assistants are staying

in 2025 Ole Miss football season is still alive after the Rebels shocked Georgia in the quarterfinals of the College Football Playoff at the Sugar Bowl. The Rebels won 39-34 in a huge back-and-forth game and now heads to the semifinals against Miami in the Fiesta Bowl. However, the Rebels will lose six LSU assistants and Lane Kiffin‘s staff, and there is more uncertainty with the transfer portal open.

Yahoo Sports college football reporter Ross Dellenger asked Ole Miss athletic director Keith Carter about which assistants will be with the Rebels in the Fiesta Bowl, and Carter said he didn’t know. He also said that he will celebrate soon and then get ready for Arizona. The uncertainty stems from the fact that the transfer window has opened and these coaches may be required to turn their attention to LSU.

“I don’t know,” Carter told Ross Dellenger of Yahoo Sports. “We’re going to celebrate tonight and get ready for Arizona in the morning.”

Offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach Charlie Weis Jr., co-offensive coordinator and tight ends coach Joe Cox, wide receivers coach and passing game coordinator George McDonald, head strength and conditioning coach Nick Savage, senior analyst and pass rush specialist Dane Stevens and graduate assistant Royge Jordan follow Keough in Button.

However, according to ESPN, the coaches are refusing to abandon the Rebels, and Ole Miss is two wins away from winning the national championship.

“There will be some fireworks,” an Ole Miss source told ESPN. “We always knew this could be a possibility.”

The transition was always going to be awkward because college football’s calendar doesn’t allow for any freedom. Kiffin was named LSU’s head coach on Nov. 30and defensive coordinator Pete Golding was named Kiffin’s replacement.

“Everything has been extremely clear and transparent between Pete Golding and myself through constant communication, including the plan during this historic championship,” Kiffin told ESPN. “What an incredible night for all Ole Miss players, coaches and fans.”
