Gabe Vincent receives critical injury information

LOS ANGELES – Los Angeles The Lakers have been hit by a wave of injuries for multiple players during the first few months of the regular season, one of which is a veteran quarterback Gabe Vincent. But help could be on the way, though not immediately.
Before the Lakers’ game against the Memphis Grizzlies on Friday, coach JJ Redick mentioned that the team hopes Gabe Vincent could practice over the weekend, and that his potential return from injury could be as early as next week.
“Hopefully I’ll practice tomorrow, it’ll be modified,” Redick said. “Hopefully he’ll be available for one of the road games. But again, we’ve got to expose ourselves to live play. With a travel day on Monday, it’s going to be tough.”
Counting the Lakers’ game against the Grizzlies on Friday, Vincent will miss at least two more games. The earliest he could return to the lineup is Tuesday, January 6 against the New Orleans Pelicans. The Lakers next game after that is against the San Antonio Spurs for the second night of back-to-back games.
Vincent has been sidelined since December 18 with a back injury. Friday’s game against the Grizzlies marked the seventh straight game he has missed.
Vincent was a reliable veteran for Redick, and started several plays when needed. He has appeared in 14 games this season, including six starts, with just over 21 minutes per game. He averaged 4.7 points and 1.4 assists while shooting 36.2 percent from the 3-point line.
He is in his third season with the Lakers after signing with the team as a free agent in the 2023 offseason. His first season with the Lakers was marred by injury, but he has been relatively healthy since then.
