Disciplined and hardworking Wolves
Sometimes you have to hit rock bottom to bounce back better. Corrected in Atlanta (126-102) on Wednesday night, conceding its third loss in its last four games in Georgia, the Wolves were able to show character tonight in miami to win 125-115.
The game in Atlanta could have left a mark, between the Anthony Edwards “incident”.went to the locker room 8 minutes from the end of the match and the cold anger of Rudy Gobert after the match. And after a controlled first half last night, Minnesota could have really faltered as Miami came back strong after intermission, pushed by an aggressive Powell-Wiggins tandem and red-hot center Casey.
Concentration and discipline
Chris Finch’s men then responded as a team, with determination and confidence, to regain the lead and go on to the end, much to the delight of the Wolves manager.
“I think we really showed consistent energy for most of the game, but the key for me was our reaction when they came back and took the lead again. We responded and played what was not far from our best basketball at that point.”. he emphasized.
Chris Finch waited for the reaction of his players, to be impeccable in content before thinking about the result. And as it often happens, one followed the other, with a more than adequate overall performance of the team, leaders at the level, regularity over 48 minutes, and thus the victory in the end.
“That’s exactly what we needed against a very good team, who play very well and a style of play that is difficult to defend. The discipline we showed in sticking to the game plan from the start of the match set the tone for the rest of the match. When that happened, we were ready to respond and stay focused.”
Julius Randle calms things down
Julius Randle responded with 23 points, 10 rebounds and 4 assists. Sometimes viewed, quite unfairly, as the barometer of this Minnesota team alongside the flashy Anthony Edwards, who last night reached 1,200 career 3-pointers, the interior has taken the opportunity to calm things down. He hopes this win will create more positive momentum away from the “drama” of Atlanta
“I would say it’s really a matter of concentration. When we’re focused and hardworking, we’re a very good team.” he recalled. “It’s important not to overreact to the smallest thing. We didn’t play our best basketball last game. But, there’s 82 games in a season, those are things that are going to happen. We don’t want to use that as an excuse, but sometimes you just have to move on to the next game and play the game in front of you.”
After the backlash, the Wolves will now have to confirm that they are indeed back on track tonight in Washington.
