career record for an All-Star dream
Norman Powell started 2026 on a high with a 36-point game against the Pistons. Against the Wolves, he was more discreet with just 21 points in his team’s loss that ended their four-game winning streak.
However, the Heat quickly had a chance to recover as they played the second part of their “back-to-back” with the reception of the Pelicans, a red light in the West.
The beginning of this meeting was highlighted by the 3-point prowess of the Heat, and especially Norman Powell, who made his first four attempts from behind the arc. He also suffered a foulIves Missy which sends him firing three shots. After only six minutes of play, the counter of the former player of the Clippers already shows 15 points.
“I told Erik Spoelstra, his staff and even the guys in the locker room that a win tonight was a must, especially after losing the first game in a row. explains Norman Powell after the meeting. “We had to set the tone and assert ourselves to be ready for the journey ahead.”
Norman Powell wasn’t happy with this early heat as he added five more points in the second quarter. After going to the locker room, the Pelicans didn’t respond to the Heat’s attacks anymore, while Norman Powell still didn’t calm down. He hits the first shot from distance that gives Miami ten points back, and a minute later, the guard clears Karlo Matković to make his eighth long shot of the night.
Head always in the stars
Everything seemed perfect in my swing, whether it was the moment I released the ball or my balance. Norman Powell rejoiced. “If the defenders were behind the 3-point line, it was an open shot for me. After I hit the first few shots, it all came together. I looked at where the defenders were coming for me and I made the shot.”
With 90 seconds left in the game, #24 made his ninth game-winning shot of the night and set a new career high behind the arc. In 29 minutes, Norman Powell finished with 34 points while shooting 11/15 and 9/12 from distance.
This solid performance adds up to a record that could send the 2019 champion to the All-Star Game. Since missing out on it last year, the fullback has made no secret of his desire to go there this season. Since the start of this 2025/26 season, Norman Powell has averaged 24 points on 48% shooting and 40% from distance.
“I think I definitely have a good record,” says Norman Powell. “Last year I learned that I don’t have to be obsessed with it, but I want to go and I think I deserve it. My peers in the league tell me after the games that I’m an All-Star and that I should be there. The most important thing for me is to give everything on the field and win. Then I let the coaches and fans choose for themselves. – I think that I am always everything and I am” Zvezda.
