James Dolan shoots down Giannis trade rumors

Every team I wish he had Giannis Antetokounmpo in his team, but New York Knicks the owner James Dolan seems satisfied with the current composition his squad.

“I’ve never seen a more cooperative locker room … Leon can always outvote me, but I don’t see us making a big change,” Dolan said Monday (via Chris Pursiainen of ClutchPoints ). “We have to build this group … we can win the championship.”

It’s not that Dolan doesn’t want the two-time NBA Most Valuable Player on the Knicks’ roster, but he understands that making a trade to land Antetokounmpo would require major changes to New York’s roster, which is currently doing a good job.

Entering Monday, the Knicks have a 23-12 record, despite losing three games in a row.

The The Knicks have long been linked to Antetokounmpo. New York and the Bucks held talks in the summer before the 2025-26 season about a potential trade involving the “Greek Freak,” but it ultimately did not result in a mega-transaction.

Antetokounmpo and his agent have reportedly spoken with Milwaukee about his future, and since he hasn’t categorically said he wants to retire with the only team he’s played for so far in his NBA career, expect rumors of a potential trade to continue to swirl — especially with the NBA trade deadline in 2025.

As for the Knicks, they have a roster that many believe can end the Big Apple’s NBA title drought — with or without Antetokounmpo. Led by the 1-2 punch of Jalen Brunson and Karl-Anthony Towns, New York is considered a legitimate title contender.
