Jaylen Pickett’s reaction to a career night against the 76ers can’t be beat
Many thought it was The Denver Nuggets simply played in their Monday night matchup against the Philadelphia 76ers. After all, in addition to the likes of Nikola Jokic, Jonas Valanciunas and Cam Johnson dealing with weeks-long injury layoffs, Jamal Murray, Christian Brown and Aaron Gordon also got the night off.
But little did everyone know that the 76ers were simply walking into the trap the Nuggets had set for them, with Jalen Pickett plays a major role in the 125-124 win over Philly in overtime.
Pickett was assigned the role of primary ball handler on the night Murray sat, and he made the most of his rare opportunity. He had 29 points, five rebounds and seven assists while drilling 11 of his 20 shots, seven of which came from beyond the arc.
And the Nuggets guard won’t let anyone forget his performance anytime soon. In fact, he will tell his children’s children about the legend on his magical January 5, 2026.
“Oh my God. I’m going to tell them I was giving MVP buckets out there,” Pickett said, according to Bennett Durand of the Denver Post.
With the way he played there, Pickett could have so much fun.
The Nuggets are finding cracks in the 76ers’ defense

The Nuggets went on an all-out attack on the basket, forcing it The 76ers will play double the lineup to hide Joel Embiid’s deficiencies in protecting the rim.
But at the end of the day, the Nuggets made enough shots to keep the 76ers’ defense honest. Pickett was the main man, but Peyton Watson did so much damage, as did Zeke Nnaji. Bruce Brown also got in on the act, as he made several key shots, including the game-winning layup.
This was a key win for the Nuggets, as it at least gives them an extra cushion in a tough stretch without Jokic that they will have to endure.
