Tim Duncan, Manu Ginobili and Tony Parker aren’t, but they are the most prolific scorers the Spurs have ever produced in less than two full quarters, giving up the most points in less than 22 minutes a game.

With a minutes limit in his first game back from a left knee hyperextension sustained on New Year’s EveVembanjama went 10-of-20 from the field, including 3-of-6 from 3-point range, off the bench. He also grabbed five rebounds with three assists, a blocked shot and a steal.

They lost to the Utah Jazz in six games of that playoff. The Grizzlies, headlined by “Big Country” Briant Reeves, finished their first season with 15-67 marks.

You don’t have to go back nearly that far to top one of the top 75 players, as decided by the NBA and Wemby.

In March 2025, Sandro Mamukelašvili not only made Spurs history, but engraved his name in the NBA record book. His 34 points in just 19 minutes against a New York Knicks team that advanced to the Eastern Conference Finals was the first time a player in the league scored as much while playing less than 20 minutes. Playing against his hometown Knicks, the Seton Hall alum hit an incredible 13 of 14 shots from the field, including all seven of his 3-pointers and his only free throw. He also had nine rebounds and three assists in the 120-105 win.

Vembanjama did not play that evening. The March 19 contest came nearly a month after the Spurs announced their cornerstone would miss the rest of the season because of blood clots in his right shoulder. San Antonio finished 34-48, a 12-game improvement over the rookie season of the 2023 No. 1 draft pick.

Now in his third year, the generational talent averaged 24.3 points per game, which turned into Spurs’ fourth loss in six games. His 11.7 rebounds and 2.9 blocks also lead the team. Those are the numbers that came Wemby has been on a minutes restriction since returning on Dec. 13 from his first injury of the season, the calf strain he suffered a month earlier.
