Add Anthony Davis to the Bucks’ list of long-range trade targets

In recent weeks, one of the main stories in the NBA landscape has been The Dallas Mavericks reported the pursuit of an Anthony Davis trade as they look to hand the keys to the franchise to Rookie of the Year leader Cooper Flagg. Davis was inside and out of the lineup so far this year due to injury, and it’s looking increasingly likely that a trade could happen sooner rather than later.

Now another team has been added to the list potential commercial suitors for the Mavericks in their quest to shed Davis’ massive contract.

“League sources say the Milwaukee Bucks (16-20; 11th in the East) are also among the teams that have registered interest in trading for Davis, though a deal appears unlikely. The Bucks have been aggressive in their pursuit of more talent to put alongside superstar forward Giannis Antetokounmpo, and have expressed interest in pursuing Davis A. Clark” The Athletic.

However, they also noted that “their meager asset base and lack of significant contracts could limit the attractiveness of a potential trade package.”

Indeed, the Bucks aren’t exactly loaded with resources at the moment, only having to try to sign Myles Turner in the offseason, waiving and extending Damian Lillard’s contract.

Even with Davis in the lineup, it’s unclear if the Bucks would have nearly enough talent to compete in the East, especially considering they’d have to give up some talent to make the deal work.

At this point, though, no clear front-runner has emerged as Davis’ suitor for the Mavericks, so nothing appears to be off the table on that front.

The Mavericks will next take the floor Thursday night against the Utah Jazz.
