Baltimore claims the former Giants player is out

The Baltimore Orioles they were busy throughout free agency, especially after signing a big contract with Pete Alonso. Now, the Orioles’ outfield depth became deeperas the team added the former San Francisco Giants infielder via waivers, according to MLB insider Francis Romero.

“Dominican INF Marco Luciano has been claimed off waivers by the Baltimore Orioles,” wrote Romero on X.

The The Orioles have used the waiver wire effectivelyconstantly looking for the pieces to help them become a contender after missing out playoffs last season. In the end, this was a depth move that helped give the team some relief during a long season.

Luciano did not appear in the majors in the 2025 season. Instead, he played 125 games for the Triple-A Sacramento River Cats, the Giants’ affiliate. He hit .214 with 23 home runs, 66 RBIs, a .335 on-base percentage and a .413 slugging percentage. In addition, he scored 76 runs.

Luciano played 41 major league games, all with the Giants. So far, he has hit .217 with three RBIs, scored 14 runs and posted a .304 slugging percentage. All in all, it wasn’t the best start to his major league career. But this signing with the Orioles represents a new beginning. Also, he can be an asset on defense, as he plays shortstop, second base, left field, and sometimes first base.

In addition to hitting, The Orioles were looking throwing and scouring the entire league for figures to make a good pitching staff. They already traded for Shane Baz and implied that they were not finished. By signing Luciano, the Orioles have only added to their roster as they hope to assemble a team that can compete with the Toronto Blue Jays, New York Yankees and Boston Red Sox in the AL East.
