Trae Young’s heartfelt message from Zaccharie Risacher after the trade

Although it wasn’t exactly a shock, the trade of Trae Young against the Washington Wizards on Wednesday emotional for Atlanta Hawks fans.

After all, Young has been with the team since 2018. Fans have witnessed his growth over the years, helping the Hawks make multiple playoff appearances, including a memorable run to the conference finals in 2021.

But aside from the fans, Young’s now-former teammates also felt the strain in their hearts, including the sophomores Zachary Risacher. Although he didn’t really spend many years with Yang, he just had good words to say.

“He’s my guy, he’s my brother. He was one of the first people I met in this organization, and he’s always had my back from day one,” Risacher said, per Malik Brown of ClutchPoints.

“I want what’s best for him. If he’s happy, I’m always happy for him.”

27 year old Young played just 10 games with the Hawks this season due to an MCL injury, with 19.3 points, 8.9 assists and 1.0 steals.

Rizacher led the Hawks to a 117-100 win over the New Orleans Pelicans on Wednesday, scoring a career-high 25 points on 8-of-13 shooting, including 7-of-9 from three-point range. He also had eight rebounds and a block.

However, the 20-year-old Rizacher could also be out of Atlanta as the team is rumored to be shopping him around. The French-born forward was selected by the Hawks with the No. 1 overall pick in 2024. While he has shown flashes, his overall game remains questionable. This season, he is averaging 11.2 points, 3.3 rebounds and 1.4 assists.
