Ja Morant is still not over his suspension, hinting at a potential exit

As rumors surround Memphis Grizzlies star Ja Morantno doubt the conversation will heat up before the February trade deadline with the latest news. It was reported that The Grizzlies are seriously considering a trade offer for Morantand the guard seems to greet him with past grievances.

One of the gripes Morant had was a one-game suspension he received from the team for “conduct detrimental to the team,” which resulted in an altercation with head coach Tuomas Iisal.

Averaging career-low percentage in two- and three-pointers, minutes, among other categories, Michael C. ESPN’s Wright would get into how Morant didn’t “overcame” the suspension it made him feel “estranged from his teammates.” It even led to Morant saying outside the team that he was “not playing for Memphis anymore.”

“League sources told ESPN’s Michael C. Wright that Morant still hasn’t gotten over the suspension because he felt estranged from his teammates, who were told to leave the star quarterback alone so he could address the issues that led to the suspension. Afterward, Morant told players around the league and some of his former coaches that he was no longer playing for Memphite, according to ESPN sources.

With all eyes on drama with the Grizzlies and Moranta previous report from November by ClutchPoints’ Brett Siegel detailed Morant’s suspension. That stemmed from an Oct. 31 loss in Memphis to the Los Angeles Lakers, where the coaches challenged Morant at halftime to “get better and get the team’s energy up.”

Consequently, this did not sit well with the 26-year-old, leading to a lively argument between Morant and Iisal.

“While direct quotes from this locker room altercation between Iisalo and Morant have not been shared verbatim with ClutchPoints, multiple sources say that Iisalo singled out Morant for his lack of effort and leadership,” Siegel continued. “Voices were raised during this session in the locker room after the game, and it ended with Morant basically telling Iisal that the permanent substitutions weren’t working and were the reason for everyone’s lack of enthusiasm in the second half.”

Either way, it remains to be seen if Memphis will trade Morant, though the writing appears to be on the wall.
