Bam Adebayo cites “process” with new lineup after loss to lowly Pacers

Although it is The Miami Heat were the healthiest team has been around for a while, especially with the recent return of the star quarterback Tyler Herroenthusiasm would come to a screeching halt with a 123-99 loss to the lowly Indiana Pacers. Despite that rumors about the heat in what the team might do when the February trade deadline rolls around, the team’s current look is still going through growing pains.

Making his fifth start for Miami, the team started with Davion Mitchell, Tyler Hero, Norman PowellAndrew Wiggins and Bam Adebayo. With Kel’el Ware sitting, the team has seen positive results with the lineup, though with Herro’s injury, it’s been nearly a month since he’s been seen, and to say the unit is rusty was an understatement.

Entering the game, Indiana was a league-worst 7-31, but the Heat didn’t look like it as the Pacers scored 36 in the first period, while Miami had 18, its lowest first quarter of the season. For captain Bama Adebayo, it will be a “process” with the starting lineup.

“It’s a process,” Adebayo said after posting 13 points and nine rebounds Saturday, via video from Heat Central on X, formerly Twitter. “This is like the third game we’ve been fully healthy all season, so it’s going to take some time. Guys have been in and out of the lineup, plug and play, we’re trying to figure it out. So hopefully we can stay healthy and get over this injury and get back to winning some games.”

Although there were parts where Miami came close, the team couldn’t find the spark to get going to beat Indiana, even though the head coach Erik Spoelstra says that it is much more than the starting line-up, and that a “sample size for one game.”

Although it is hard to see impressive Vare sit for the Heatthere is an understanding that the starting lineup that was thrown out on Saturday night could be explosive. The Hero and Powell duo was one that fans were excited about, but people might be worried about, though it looks like it’s going to take time, as the former says about what went wrong against the Pacers.

“As a starting unit, we have to come out with a better attitude, a better focus to get the team off to a good start,” Herro said after scoring 21 points, via the team’s YouTube page. “It is unacceptable that we are all down by 20 before the first time out.”

It was a struggle for Powell, who finished with six points while shooting 2 of 12 from the field, but he reflected the same sentiments starting line-up is a process.

“We’ve been playing a certain way for a while,” Powell said. “And then the other guy goes back to Tyler. … Now everybody has to adjust and figure it out. It’s not going to be as soon as it happens, as soon as everybody’s healthy, we’re going to be playing and clicking on all cylinders. Now you have to adjust and figure it out.”

The starting lineup looks to be better with the 20-18 Heat, as the team next faces the Oklahoma City Thunder on Sunday night before returning home on Tuesday against the Phoenix Suns.
