Tuomas Iisalo gives Ti Jerome, Zach Edei updates ahead of Europe trip

The the broken Memphis Grizzlies boarded a transatlantic flight for two European games against the Orlando Magic with far more questions than healthy bodies. After beating the Brooklyn Nets, Tuomas Iisalo offered a series of updates, painting a mixed picture of availability for Ja Morant, You Jeromeand Zach Edey.
While the trip promises excitement for fans across the pond, the Grizzlies they will probably be shortened for a few more games.
“I don’t see (Ty Jerome’s) time frame matching up with the European Games,” admitted Iisalo, “but everyone is going. He’s moved on to do things and he’s already on the pitch. Obviously, he wants to do a lot more and keep improving.”
Jerome’s inclusion in the traveling party is a positive sign, indicating steady progress. While he may not play against Orlando, his work on the field suggests he is getting closer to full participation upon the team’s return.
The biggest concern for Memphis remains the status of center Zach Eddy. Iisalo admitted that while he does not know the exact date of the return, a more detailed update is expected soon. Eddie has been out the last few days consulting with additional doctors regarding the left ankle injury, which the team characterized as normal procedure. Eddie is traveling to Europe with the Grizzlies, but is unlikely to play in any games against the Magic.
Edei’s influence on the court is undeniable. In his absence, the Grizzlies posted a net rating of -6.8, dragged down by a porous 119.6 defensive rating. Compare that to his dominance on the field: a whopping +17.7 net rating, backed up by an elite 96.7 defensive rating and a whopping 144.4 offensive rating. Through his games this season, the 7-foot-4 big man is averaging 13.6 points and 11.1 rebounds per contest, making his potential return a huge boost whenever it comes.
As expected, Brandon Clark and Scottie Pippen Jr. will be sidelined until the team returns to Memphis and the familiar confines of the FedEx Forum. Meanwhile, Ja Morant’s status remains unchanged and shrouded in wider speculation. The star point guard remains officially listed on the injury report, a designation that continues to fuel trade rumors swirling around the league.
On a brighter note, John Konchar is fully back in the lineup. He played against the Nets and is expected to be available for both European games. Konchar’s versatility and defensive tenacity could prove vital as the Grizzlies navigate potential absences elsewhere.
